Curricular importance of chemistry in higher education and the prioritized curriculum with emphasis on competencies at the baccalaureate level issued by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador

This research work analyzes the curricular importance of chemistry in higher education and how prioritized curriculum Ecuadorian baccalaureate, with emphasis on competencies, influences academic professional training students. Desirable essential skills they relate to competencies needed for success workplace are addressed. Through review official documents, previous publications, objectives, structure contents Chemistry baccalaureate examined. In addition, it is discussed implementation this competency-based approach can face challenges generate problems education, such as knowledge gaps, insufficient practical difficulties critical analytical thinking. Finally, some strategies recommendations proposed improve teaching high school facilitate transition including promotion teacher training, investment infrastructure educational resources, collaboration between secondary institution.
